Causes of deformation of injection molded products
The deformation of injection molded products is a common problem in the injection molding production process, and its causes are complex and diverse, mainly including the following aspects:
Product Design & Shape:
The thickness of the product is uneven, resulting in inconsistent cooling and shrinkage.
The shape of the product is not reasonably designed, such as the presence of sharp corners or uneven surfaces.
Mold Design & Manufacturing:
The design of the molding water hole of the mold is unreasonable, resulting in uneven cooling.
The mold’s demoulding system is poorly designed, such as insufficient number of ejector rods or improper positioning.
The improper location, form and quantity of the gate of the mold affect the filling state of the plastic in the mold cavity.
Molding conditions:
The injection pressure is too high, resulting in residual stress inside the product.
Improper mold temperature control, too high or too low will affect the cooling and shrinkage of the product.
The molding time is insufficient, and the product is demolded before it is fully cured.
Material Factors:
Crystalline materials (such as polyethylene, polypropylene, etc.) have a large molding shrinkage rate and are prone to deformation.
The fluidity of the material is poor, and it is not easy to fill the mold cavity, resulting in voids or stress inside the product.
