How should the pressure be controlled in 2K injection molding

The two most important processes of 2K injection molding are filling and packing.

1. Injection pressure

In the current 2K injection molding production, the injection pressure of almost all injection machines is based on the pressure applied to the plastic by the plunger or the top of the screw (converted from the oil pressure).

The role of injection pressure in injection molding is to overcome the flow resistance of the plastic from the barrel to the cavity, to give the melt the rate of filling and to compaction the melt.

2. Plasticizing pressure

In the injection, the plasticizing pressure needs to be changed with the design of the screw, the quality requirements of the product and the type of plastic.

If these conditions and the speed of the screw remain the same, then increasing the plasticizing pressure will strengthen the shear effect, that is, the temperature of the melt will be increased, but the plasticizing efficiency will be reduced, the countercurrent and leakage flow will be increased, and the driving power will be increased.

In addition, increasing the plasticizing pressure often results in a uniform temperature of the melt, uniform mixing of pigments and the discharge of gases from the melt.

In general operation, the plasticizing pressure should be determined as low as possible under the premise of ensuring the quality of the product, and its specific value varies with the variety of plastic 2K molds used, but usually rarely exceeds 20 kg/cm².
