Surface quality defects

Causes:

1. Unreasonable cutting parameters: Improper selection of cutting speed, feed rate, and cutting depth may lead to excessive cutting force and high cutting temperature, resulting in surface quality problems.

2. Tool problems: the cutting edge of the tool is not sharp, and the geometric parameters of the tool are not suitable, which will affect the cutting effect and make the surface quality worse; Inaccurate tool installation can also lead to abnormalities on the machined surface.

3. Machine tool vibration: Insufficient rigidity of the machine tool, unstable foundation, or resonance during the processing process will cause ripples, vibrations and other defects on the processing surface.

4. Workpiece material characteristics: some materials have high hardness, high toughness, difficult processing, and are prone to surface quality problems; The uneven internal structure of the material will also affect the quality of the machined surface.

 

Solution:

1. Optimize cutting parameters: according to the workpiece material, tool type, etc., through testing or consulting the cutting manual, choose the appropriate cutting speed, feed rate and cutting depth; While ensuring processing efficiency, it improves surface quality.

2. Correct selection and use of tools: choose tools with sharp cutting edges and appropriate geometric parameters; When installing the tool, ensure that the tool is securely mounted and accurately positioned; Regularly sharpen and inspect the knives.

3. Reduce machine tool vibration: improve the rigidity of the machine tool and strengthen the foundation of the machine tool; Adjust the cutting parameters to avoid resonance with the machine tool; Vibration isolation devices are set around the machine tool to reduce the impact of external vibration on the machining.

4. Adjust the process according to the characteristics of the material: for difficult-to-machine materials, suitable cutting fluids, tool coatings, etc. can be used to improve the cutting performance; Appropriate pretreatment of the material, such as annealing, normalizing, etc., improves the processing performance of the material.
