Surface bubbles or defects
During the vacuum casting process, surface bubbles or defects may occur. It can be caused by several reasons:
(1) Bubble mixing: In the process of silica gel mixing, stirring or filling, air is not completely excluded, resulting in bubbles mixed into silica gel.
(2) The surface of the mold is not smooth: there are roughness, scratches or other non-smooth defects on the surface of the mold, so that the silicone cannot fully fit the surface of the mold during the filling process.
(3) Inappropriate mold release agent: The mold release agent used may not be compatible with the silicone material, resulting in increased surface adhesion and bubbles or defects.
Here are some ways to deal with bubbles or defects on the surface of vacuum casting:
(1) Stirring and defoaming: In the silica gel mixing process, fully stir the silica gel, and use a vacuum defoaming device to exclude the mixed air. Make sure there are no visible bubbles in the silica gel.
(2) Mold surface treatment: ensure that the surface of the mold is smooth, clean and free of scratches. Grinding, polishing, or other surface treatments can be used to make the mold surface smoother.
(3) Appropriate use of mold release agent: choose a mold release agent that is compatible with silicone materials, and use an appropriate amount of release agent according to the guidance. Make sure the release agent is evenly applied to the mold surface to reduce adhesion.
The dimensions are inaccurate
The dimensions of the part after vacuum casting do not match the original mold or design specifications.
Solution: Carefully check the parameters and steps in the casting process to ensure that the copied part dimensions are consistent with the original mold or design specifications. If needed, the casting parameters can be adjusted or the mold can be changed.
